Improving your bottom line in 2010Perhaps 2010 should be different. 1.Spend more time on analytics

You probably know that Web site analytics are one of your most powerful tools. They provide you with a broad knowledge and understanding of your visitors behaviour - how they come to and use your site. But are you fully optimising your analytics potential? Analytics

It could be worth spending more time with your analytics and digging a little deeper. Perhaps look at tracking conversions by setting new goals, look at pages that have a low traffic rate and try to pinpoint any improvements you can make, look at your top referring sites and see what is helping to generate traffic...

The more time spent looking at your analytics, the greater the understanding you will have of your customers and what drives the most profitable results.



2.Spend time daily on your social marketing efforts

Whilst it is definitely a step in the right direction to create a presence for yourself on Facebook and Twitter, or set up a blog, what is essential is to ensure that you are visiting your accounts every day. Keeping in touch with your fans/followers/readers is really important, not only to monitor any feedback, but to be able to address any problems quickly if they arise.

If you are being followed on Twitter, or people read your blog on a regular basis, you need to keep them interested and provide frequent updates. If you don't, they will soon lose interest and go elsewhere. If you are struggling to find time to honour this commitment, consider getting someone else to handle it on a part-time basis, or get a work experience/ university student on board to help out. Social marketing is worth it!



3.Keep communicating with existing customers

However you manage it, maintaining a constant line of communication with your customer will always be important. Not all of your customers will be reachable via social media, but e-mailing them remains an effective way to communicate. E-mailing on a regular basis with a well designed marketing campaign has a consistent track record of success for most businesses. Whether you e-mail on a monthly/ quarterly basis is up to you, depending on the information you have to share, but a regular mail shot will undoubtedly bring results.

A newsletter with special offers, company news, latest developments, or anything you believe will be of benefit to your customers will always encourage them to carry on interacting.



4.Keep an eye on any advertising campaigns - continually test, measure and monitor

Everyone will have tighter marketing budget this year. You will be keener than ever to get a good return on your investment in 2010. Monitoring your marketing campaigns will be essential.

Decide what outcome you want to achieve from your advertising - and then measure the results as precisely as you can. Whether it's increased sales, more Web site traffic, reputation monitoring or brand awareness, using effective measurement tools will be the key to success. An additional idea is to look at A/B split testing when implementing your campaigns, so that you can look at the comparative results of any variations.



5. Keep building your mailing list - new monthly offers always attract extra business

Acquiring new potential customers is just as important as retaining existing clients and constantly building up your database of potential buyers is essential. The simple truth is that the more people you have on your mailing list, the wider the audience you have to interact with and the more rewards you will gain.

Keep the incentives fresh. Something new and different each month will keep the first-time buyers coming and the regular customers coming back for more.
